Stella is like part of our family

"We cannot recommend Stella highly enough. She has photographed my wedding and our three children over the last 22 years, every time we spend months deliberating as all the photos are great."

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Each project I undertake is unique to you. If you are unable to see the answer to your question below please get in touch here or call me on 0777 181 0105 – I’d love to hear from you.

Q. What happens if it’s raining, cold, and overcast?

A. That's a great question! I always monitor the weather forecast closely. If torrential rain is predicted or happens on the day, I'll reschedule the shoot. Overcast and cloudy days, however, provide a lovely soft, diffused light that's very complimentary, so the shoot will go ahead.

Q. What times of day are best for outdoor family photoshoots?

A. The time of year determines the best time of day. For example, an autumnal photoshoot in the woodlands is often best around 4 PM to make the most of the beautiful golden sunlight low in the sky. This light creates a flattering glow and brings out the soft golden and copper tones of the foliage. For springtime photoshoots, especially among bluebells in woodlands, early mornings around 9:30 AM or later in the afternoon around 5:30 PM work well to capture the low sunshine, which is perfect for backlighting.

Q. How long do we need to book in advance?

A. I suggest booking as soon as you have a date in mind; it's never too early. We can also take bookings a week before, depending on availability. We've even had requests the day before, so it's always worth contacting us.

Q. How long do location photoshoots take?

A. I typically allow about an hour for the photoshoot. Any longer than this, and the spontaneity can be lost, especially with young children.

Q. Can we include our pets in a photoshoot?

A. Yes, dogs, rabbits, and horses are very welcome on location. Cats usually work better in a studio setting. I always recommend bringing some treats to help hold your pets' attention and to distract them if needed.

Q. What is involved with photographing collections of things?

A. Each commission is unique. I always start by talking with you to understand why the items you've chosen to have photographed are important to you or a loved one. We'll discuss how you'd like them presented and your desired timeline for the final result. From there, we'll create a detailed plan of action and provide a clear breakdown of the costs involved.

Q. Why choose Stella to photograph my collection and lifestyle?

A. The people I work with often tell me I'm friendly, approachable, and easy to get along with. I bring a wealth of experience to handle even the most challenging briefs. By collaborating with premium craftspeople, I ensure your experience is enjoyable and personal. I offer an initial complimentary consultation to ensure we're a good fit. I pride myself on earning your trust to deliver results you'll treasure for many years to come.

Q. My collection is in different parts of the world; do you travel to different locations?

A. Yes, this can certainly be accommodated. I'll work with you to manage the logistics and put a timeframe and plan in place.

Q. I’m not creative and don’t know where to start. Can you help?

A. Absolutely, I'll guide you through the entire process. During an in-depth consultation, I'll explain different options and advise on what works best for you before any photography takes place. I'll then carefully craft a proposal tailored to your individual requirements.

Q. We would like to commission you on behalf of a friend. How does this work?

A. It's best we talk this through first to ensure we can work efficiently before putting a plan of action together on behalf of your friend.

Q. Can I choose to have the photographs you produce go on the wall rather than in a book?

A. Yes, absolutely! We can discuss various options to showcase your photographs for wall hanging, such as acrylics, canvas, and handcrafted frames. Often, you won't quite know how you want to display your photographs until you've seen them. I always present the images to you at your viewing session and suggest options on the screen to help you decide, along with showing you samples.

Q. I live abroad most of the year. Does this present a problem with choosing which photographs I’d like in the book?

A. Not at all! We can communicate online and via email for artwork drafts, so distance isn't a problem. We like to involve you or your representative as much as possible throughout the process.

Q. What happens if we are unwell on the day of the shoot?

A. Please let me know as soon as you can so we can reschedule your photoshoot.

Q. What sort of budget should I expect to spend?

A. Most customers typically spend between £2,000 to £6,000 on wall art, not including the location fee. If you're looking to produce a tailored BOOK, prices start from £2,500 and upwards.

Q. How many images do we get to choose from?

A. I don't restrict the number of images I take because it's all about capturing spontaneity. Once I've edited them, you'll be shown the best ones, usually between 50 to 100 images. Most of my customers choose a series of images to display in multi-aperture frames, as Alumini, or as single images or canvases. You can see more options via the WALL ART link or explore the BOOKS section if you'd like to create something truly unique.

Q. Who has the Copyright to the Images?

A. I retain the copyright to all the images I take. I only sell licenses for images used for professional headshots for reproduction in journals, websites, and similar publications, granting a license to use depending on where the image(s) might be reproduced. If we agree that I sell images from your location shoot, your license to use will cover personal use only and not for entry into any competitions, sale to picture libraries, or for any other third-party publications.
