The 'Our Malta' Book

The Brief

To photograph a holiday home in Malta and the surrounding area where the owner grew up. The couple wanted to capture the characterful details in their home to reflect the unique history of the 300-year-old farm house with some parts as old as 650 years. The owner requested that the finished photographs were collated into a bespoke handcrafted book that could be passed on to future generations.

The Process

I visited the holiday home and surrounding area to craft a proposal, paying special attention to the landmarks where the owner spent much of his childhood. All the photography had to take place over a week-long period, with the production of the book during the following month.

I presented a selection of edited images to the owner to allow him to choose his favourites. After this, I collaborated with the designer, book printer, and bindery to create a perfect finish. Paying particular attention to the finer details which included selecting the correct shade of cloth for the cover to match the stonework of the farmhouse.
